ABOUT MARCO

I am a sustainable development researcher currently based in Thailand, where I work as Assistant Professor at the Department of Social Science and Development (Chiang Mai University). I specialise in interdisciplinary analyses of technological change, policy (e.g. conservation, health), and interventions and their impacts on communities in low- and middle-income countries, but I also have a wealth of experience in project evaluation, research design, and academic writing.

I hold advanced degrees in international development from the University of Oxford and a first degree in management from the European Business School Oestrich-Winkel (now EBS University of Business and Law) . My previous positions included work as Assistant Professor in Global Sustainable Development at the University of Warwick, as Postdoctoral Scientist (Health Policy and Systems) at the University of Oxford, as well as various consultancies (e.g. with the KfW Development Bank) and a position as Development Economist with the German Investment Corporation (DEG). My work has been published in top research journals like World Development and Social Science & Medicine and featured in international media including New Statesman, New Mandala, and Times of India.​
